> Angela's Sweet 16

This is a post of my little sister Angela's Sweet Sixteen.
Everyone had a blast, and we all got a little closer. Ahh to be Sixteen again. Too bad you can never go back or relive it.
Here is a copy of my birthday toast/blessing to her (I Hope she is not totally embarrassed):

This day means a lot to us, and I thought I'd take a few minutes today to tell you all why.

The most obvious explanation, of course, is that we all like an excuse for a party!

But there's a more important reason.

We are here to celebrate the birthday of very special individual, my little sister Angela.

It seems like only yesterday that mom and dad bought you home from the hospital in diapers. Now, you are already in high school, taking regents exams, dating boys, hanging out at the Queens mall, and soon you will be going off to college. Though it probably seems like you have experienced many things, your life is just beginning.

As you continue to grow, I wanted to pass on a few words of advice. As you get older, life will bring you much joy and success. But it may also bring you set backs and sorrows. You will face challenges and you will have to make difficult decisions. Always remember to act with honesty and integrity in all that you do. Remember to take the “right” path, not the “easy” path. Always follow your heart, but don’t always follow the crowd. And when you can, help those in need as others have helped you in your life.

Angela, you have grown up to be a very mature and bright young adult. And I am very proud of you. Everyone in this room is proud of you. You have touched each of our lives in a very special way, and we thank you for that.

Today you have much to celebrate. You have many friends that care about you, and a loving family to support you.

May god watch over you, and protect you. May he bring you comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, laughter to kiss you lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, friendships to brighten your life, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, love to complete your life, and faith so that you can believe. May he always guide you through life steering you on the right path

(Suddenly I got Religious)

This is my birthday wish for you,
You have grown up to be a beautiful, smart and loud young adult Angela. Happy Sweet Sixteen
