The Great Raid

The Great Raid was a great movie. Yes, even in a movie about war, death, and the vices of man somehow it manages to contain a happy ending. It's about a rescue mission of 500 POWs in Cubanatun in the Philippines during WWII after general Mac Arthur left many troops there during an ordered pull back to first continue fighting the war on the European front lines.  It's a tragic story long forgotten by American History and the masses. Some of the soldiers left behind make it out alive. The American spirit once again triumphs and conquers adversity at all odds. There is a hero and a heroine who provides the protagonist with the hope and the will to survive.  So maybe the sub plots are not that original, its a great movie none the less.
